    FAQs

    Is Homeopathy regulated?

Each country sets the standards for what can be manufactured and marketed as “medicine”. In the United States, Congress passed a law (Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act of 1938) declaring that homeopathic remedies are to be regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the same manner as nonprescription, over-the-counter (OTC) drugs. Homeopathic remedies have to meet legal standards for strength, quality, purity, and packaging. And, in 1988, the FDA further required that all homeopathic medicines list on the label the medical problems they’re designed to treat, the ingredients, dilutions, and instructions for safe use.

The guidelines for preparing homeopathic medicines are found in an official guide, the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States (HPUS). The Pharmacopoeia also includes provisions for testing new remedies and verifying their clinical effectiveness. Be sure you purchase your homeopathic remedies from manufacturers that are compliant with both the FDA and HPUS.

    What is the HPUS?

The HPUS, or the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States, is a manual written by a nongovernmental, nonprofit organization of industry representatives and homeopathic experts that contains the guidelines for preparing homeopathic medicines in the same way every time. Other countries have similar guides overseen by their governments.

Do I need a prescription to buy homeopathic remedies?

No. The US Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act of 1938 protects your right to purchase homeopathic medicines without a doctor’s prescription. However, we recommend you maintain open communication with your healthcare practitioner regarding the choices and decisions you make.

Where can I buy homeopathic medicines?

There are several reputable homeopathic pharmacies that are compliant with both the FDA and the HPUS. There are others, but here are the ones we work with.

    Boiron: https://www.boironusa.com/

    Washington Homeopathic: https://www.homeopathyworks.com/

    Hahnemann Labs: https://www.hahnemannlabs.com/

    ohmPHARMA: https://ohmpharma.com/

    Hyland’s Pharmacy: https://hylands.com/

You can also find many remedies on websites not connected with the manufacturing pharmacies, but please be cautious. Be sure you purchase brands that are from reputable homeopathic pharmacies.

We will look together at how Practical Homeopathy can gently guide your body in healing itself.

We are here to support you during your journey.

    How long will it take?

Unfortunately, this is not possible to say in a general FAQs page. Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time it takes to accomplish your goals depends on many factors.

I want to get the most out of therapy. What can I do to help?

I am so glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your sessions. Your active participation and dedication will be crucial to your success.

What is the difference between group classes and individual strategy consults?

Group classes are just that – a group of individuals studying the same information of various topics and coming together to discuss and share their experiences. Individual Consultations are 1:1 sessions to address your personal wellness goals.

    Are you a doctor?

No. I am a homeopathic educator, not a physician or pharmacist. I do not diagnose, prescribe or treat. The relationship between you and me is not of prescriber and patient, but rather of educator and client. It is completely your choice whether or not you implement any information you receive during our meetings. The information provided should not be considered medical advice and does not substitute for advice provided to you by your physician, pharmacist or other healthcare professional. I cannot make any guarantees as to the outcomes of the use of homeopathic remedies.
